Good senior dog food for most

I have been feeding three of my senior dogs Pro Plan Savor 7+ for years. On the recommendation of a friend, I switched to Bright Mind food for all three - two small dogs and a boxer. I like that Light Mind doesn't have the "raggedy" soft bits that Smaku has. My dogs don't like chews anymore. So that was the only plus. Boxer and one of the smaller diabetic dogs did great on Bright Mind, although I can't say I've seen the noticeable improvements others are describing, perhaps because they were already on the Pro Plan diet. or maybe they both have hearing and vision problems and arthritis, so they just won't frolic. However, I am happy with the food and plan to continue using it on her. (I get a small breed variety for a diabetic yorkshire terrier/common boxer mix that is still a small croquette). skin problems. We haven't found the cause of her illnesses, so we try to follow a simple diet and treat the symptoms. I hoped that Clear Mind would help her skin problems - it didn't, but it didn't get any worse. What really happened is that this dog, whose only forte was good digestion/poo, became constipated and developed very hard poo. At first I thought it was an accident but we kept her for several weeks and she continued to struggle with bowel movements which had never been a problem before. So I switched her back to Savor 7+/small breed and she was back to normal. I just hate having three different bags of dog food for three dogs! We also supplement all three with canned goods (ONE or Beyond), about a tablespoon of cooked ground turkey or chicken, and Cosequin with each meal, which has been their regular menu for several years. So PP Bright Mind is a good food and will definitely be a great improvement if you feed your dogs foods like Pedigree, Beneful, Old Roy or even regular Purina. It just can't make much of a difference if you're already feeding quality food. (I would be interested to know if anyone else has experienced constipation with this food.) Thank you for taking good care of your pets!
