Review on Enhance Internet Speed with TP-Link AC1200 Wireless Dual Band USB Adapter (Archer T4U V1) by Ryan Dillon

Love it or hate it

I bought this USB adapter with an Archer C7 dual band router to upgrade my home wireless network. After a week of frustration I'm ready to return it. I believe this adapter is one of those devices that you will love if it works on your system. Initially I had no problems installing it and the speeds combined with the C7 router were the best I've experienced. I had a day and night of speed demon surfing. The disaster struck the next morning when I turned my system back on and Windows 7 wouldn't start. I ended up having to restore my computer to a previous restore point. Not knowing if last night's Windows updates or installing the adapter at Windows startup had broken it, I reinstalled the adapter. When I restarted my system, it turned out that it was the adapter that was messing up Windows 7 startup. I used my old D-Link adapter to get the latest drivers for the AC1200 and tried again. Again Windows did not start. Someone in these reviews suggested MediaTek drivers. They didn't work. For a week I tried different suggestions for hours and every time I restored my system because Windows wouldn't start. I called TP-LINK support first, although I know the techs on these numbers rarely help. After 20 minutes being number 1 in line I finally got in touch with a very nice and polite girl from China who of course had no idea what could be wrong let alone how (if possible) to fix it. She asked me to email tech support so my issue could be escalated. That's exactly what I did. That was a week ago and I still haven't heard from them. Tonight I've tried other suggestions I've found online as well as the ones my son gave me (in IT tech support) and have spent the last three hours trying this adapter every time I've tried it to install going through the same frustrating process of restoring my system. I'm done. I had it with this product and they are coming back to Revain. There are many positive reviews for this USB adapter, so like I said, if it works on your system, you'll love it. However, this failed miserably on my system.
