Review on πŸ”₯ Taper 1 15mm Stainless Welding Metric: Superior Quality for Precise Welding by Tyler Owens

Measurement lines are difficult to see

I received this cone to replace an old 1-15mm cone. I'm an engineer and I travel to refineries all over the world, so sometimes I give my tools to the engineers at the refinery where it's a bit more difficult/expensive for them to import such equipment. I didn't like two things. About this taper gauge versus others I've worked with: 1. The gauge markings are very difficult to see. It looks like the lines and numbers are inked/painted, but they're actually just engraved. So if you're working in low light or need to take a reading from an odd angle, forget it. try to see the measurement clearly.2. This caliber is slightly thicker. This makes it difficult to measure a gap where you may not have much depth available. While some people like this aspect, it adds a bit of weight to the instrument. If you only need it around the house, it should get the job done. If you need it to work in the industry I would advise you to look elsewhere.

Pros
  • For measuring groove width, gap etc.
Cons
  • unreliable
