Review on Clore Automotive PL2320: Smart Charger, Battery Maintainer, & Desulfator with Temperature Compensation (6V/12V, 20-Amp) by Chris Lacasse

Great charger with digital display and multi-phase charging

Due to the coronavirus pandemic, my diesel truck was parked most of the time and both of its batteries were slowly draining. Ideal for charging, the Clore charger will automatically go from 'charging' to fast charging to absorption (important for an AGM battery) to completion and then to rest, movement and battery recovery. The charge indicator shows the charge status as a percentage when driving past. When connecting two batteries in parallel, I disconnected the leads from each battery and charged them individually. When the charging phases were complete, the charger turned itself off so I didn't have to keep an eye on it. It pays to keep my batteries going for as long as possible. I particularly liked the LED-backlit user interface and I only have to press one button to select the battery type, state of charge and battery voltage. The only downsides are that the cables from the charger to the battery are too short (so I couldn't put the charger on the floor where it's safer to use and had to put it on the radiator shroud instead) and it won't work. Do not charge the lithium phosphate batteries, although the user manual states that there is a setting for this type of battery. For $90, there should be the lithium battery charging profile found on chargers that sell for a third of the price.
