I'm not an experienced photographer but in my experience with the Panasonic DMC-FZ7 I've found that: In low light there's a lot of noise in the photos - The optical one Zoom lens is great - Macro feature lets you take incredibly detailed close-ups - Better to use a tripod if not using flash (to reduce blur). I've had the FZ7 for about a year and a half and I still love it and haven't had any issues with it so far. I used the camera best when hiking in the mountains, where I got some really good photos that I still show people. The optical zoom feature is AMAZING! I was standing quite far from a tree that had a huge nest of hornets (or wasps?) and I zoomed in as close as I could and the photo was crystal clear. Two of my favorite photos taken with this camera were the super close-up (using the macro function) of my cat's face and the photo of the hornet's nest above (using the 12x optical zoom). Brilliant.
