To use the stand, open the clip until it slides under the clasp. The stand can only be used when the phone is in a horizontal position. It seems best to use it as a clip to keep the phone on your belt. It's VERY heavy, feels like holding a brick. I did not receive the screensaver. You cannot take a photo with the case/stand attached. and the inability to use the stand in two positions is an inconvenience, I will return after a future review
