Review on Forum Novelties Pirate Parrot Prop by Sam Hawj

Lower your expectations for $2 props. Get our glue and velcro. You will not be disappointed.

Not a bad price. This parrot is a foam core with feathers glued to the surface. Pretty good for the price. The legs are molded from plastic (the same material the army greens are made from). The legs are inserted into holes in the bird's underside. They were easy to pull out, but that was quickly fixed with some hot glue. (I'm sure other adhesives would do - I wanted the curing time to be fast). For attachment to the shoulder, (something like) cheap shoelaces are attached to the bottom of the legs with (obviously) hot melt glue. You would probably tie it over your shoulder, under your arm. It felt like the laces came undone fairly easily due to the minimal connection. You did just that. I glued the tabs to the 1" square Velcro and used safety pins to attach the rectangular Velcro to the shoulder of the shirt. It made a remarkably good mount. Anywhere. Some might be put off by the need to improvise. Hey, if you're making a pirate costume anyway, aren't you upgrading the other parts already, what do you want for $2?

Pros
  • Excellent design
Cons
  • Crumpled packaging
