I was very happy to find this gem. My daughter loves to write. I thought this would be the perfect gift. The idea was perfect, the article not so much. I put the batteries in for a test run before giving it to her. One laser didn't work, smelled hot so I checked the battery and burned my finger. Tried to pull the battery out, it wouldn't budge. I was so afraid it might catch fire. I had to use a screwdriver to take it apart. I changed the batteries thinking it was a bad battery but it wasn't. After I changed the batteries none of the lasers worked and it got hotter than the first time. I don't even want to think about what would have happened if my daughter had left her newspaper next to this instrument. This product has not been used and has exceeded the return window. VERY VERY unsatisfied with this product!
