Comes in a transparent case which makes it fairly easy to identify the drive inside the case. I would not recommend dropping the case as it is made of hard/clear plastic and will likely break or break easily. In general I would try to avoid dropping hard drives. I use it for Samsung SSDs, EVO-850 /860 and it works Make sure you are using USB 3 or 3.1 interface for best performance.
