There was a time in home sound systems when bigger was better and huge speakers were in family rooms like Stonehenge. Now the speakers try to deliver great sound with minimal or almost imperceptible presence. While most audiophile sound requires frequencies to be separated and reproduced by speakers designed to maximize the frequencies fed to them, i.e. through bass, tweeter, midrange, tweeter and subwoofer, very good sound can be achieved with a much simpler scheme will.
