I was hesitant to buy a Vizio router because the company isn't known for their wireless technology. Two things changed my mind: 1) The reviews were generally positive, while the negatives were half for support and half for performance. I've installed several wireless routers over the years and found that perfectly good routers won't work with some settings, and sometimes it's not even about the connection, it's about the environment. 2) Many years ago no one heard of Vizio for TVs and now the company is a leading manufacturer. as the name suggests, there's no way they would stay in business if they were selling junk. overthrow. I have to say this was the easiest wireless setup I've ever had. The menu system is very simple compared to other routers I've seen. Vizio also has fewer features and options, but that's not always a bad thing. If you're new to wireless setup and want a router that's intuitive, stable, fast, and at a competitive price, then the Vizio is a great option. Of course, you can get better performance and more features, but you pay more. So, a few details about my setup. Initially, I connected the Vizio directly to my Comcast cable modem (Motorola SB5100). Later I installed Ooma, which prefers to sit directly on the modem. The Vizio had no trouble connecting through an additional device. No setup or troubleshooting, everything worked the first time. I noticed that the signal is very stable. I've verified with inSSIDer 2.0 that Vizio's signal strength remains constant even when my internet speed varies. I also use MAC address filtering and have found this feature to work with a router. Pros: - fast router - 5.0GHz band - stable - easy setup - easy navigation menu - I find the features I need faster. Cons: - no gigabit ethernet (you pay for what you get, or in other words you get fewer features because you pay less) - fewer features (options in setup menu)
