As you can see from my photos I use these chairs for dining room, art studio, vanity and seating. I recently bought 4 after buying 1 for my desk two years ago. You are cozy. Nice. work chairs. Be careful not to buy the smaller versions listed in packs of 2. The seats are too narrow for comfort, but not these chairs. Enough space for every seat size. They balance and roll at will. Yes, the seat of the chair swivels, making it easy for you to recline off the tabletop in a small dining area like mine while entertaining guests. For my art studio, well let me say - AWESOME! They are used by my adult and teenage art students. Watercolor paint that gets on the skin of the stool is washed off with water and a paper towel. I would give them ten stars if possible.
