After painting our kitchen I liked the look of clean walls so wanted to put this on the side of the refrigerator, next to the prep area of our counter. The knife racks are very heavy and thick so that the knives hang flat and do not stick out. They stay in position on the front of the refrigerator, which has a smooth surface. The sides are textured and the knife bar stays in place until you put the knives on it then it slides down. I put double sided scrapbook tape on one and it now stays in place. I am going to get some heavier, permanent tape later this week to make it more secure. They also look great with my light pine colored cabinets.
