My friend couldn't even make mashed potatoes until I bought her this dish. Now she makes the best mashed potatoes. Use golden Yukon potatoes. Peel and quarter. Start with cold water, bring to a boil and cook until tender but not mushy. Drain the water and return the potatoes to the pot and return to the stove. Puree and stir over fire. The goal is to boil a little more water out of the potatoes at the expense of losing steam. (this allows the potatoes to absorb more flavor). Then add REAL BUTTER (this is important) and use heavy cream instead of milk. Mash with the potato masher you just bought. Season with salt and pepper. (For a really tasty potato, add some sour cream or melted cheese. Gracefully receive rewards from your family.
