Review on Apple MacBook Pro 14-inch with M1 Pro chip, 10-core CPU, 16-core GPU, 16GB RAM and 1TB SSD in Space Gray (2021 Model) by Mateusz Uliasz ᠌

Revainrating 4 out of 5

I like the product, the quality didn't let me down.

1) The enlarged screen diagonal is almost invisible, neither in watching YouTube nor in development. 2) The bangs from the camera almost do not catch the eye. 3) The camera did not get better, but it shows brighter in poor lighting, noise is also filtered very strongly, but the picture is still the same soapy and plastic as from the camera of the phone in 2022. 4) 120 hertz is a useless feature, you quickly get used to it and stop noticing it, and just as quickly you get used back to 60. 5) The design has become more clumsy for my taste. 6) It is not clear whether the problem of keyboard fingerprints on screen, at 13 they began to appear after a year of active wear of a laptop in a backpack (in a case).

Pros
  • Compare with Apple Macbook Pro 13 on intel 2022: 1) The sound has become better - the bottoms have been added and the panorama has expanded, the max volume has increased. 2) The number of processor cores pleases, in everyday tasks it is difficult to load them all and make the cooling work actively. 3) The disk has become faster, projects are going 30-40 percent faster. 4) 16 GB of memory is also pleasing and enough even for a hundred tabs in the browser. 5) Windows 11 in Parallels feels fine, there is enough memory and processor even to watch YouTube, etc. in parallel. 6) The connected external monitor has noticeably less impact on performance. 8) You can also charge a laptop via USB-C (sometimes I use a PSU from 13). 8) The charging cable has become as if fabric, looks a little more reliable than usual and feels more pleasant. 9) The screen without highlights in the corners. 10) Black due to the front backlight of the screen became really black, but halos appeared on bright objects like a cursor, like on old CRT TVs
Cons
  • 1) The screen seems to be faded compared to the 2022 firmware. At first there was a feeling that I had moved from IPS to LCD. Everything began to look uncomfortable: from YouTube to VS Code. I played around with color profiles, PAL & Secam is very similar to what I'm used to, but when it is selected, the brightness of the backlight is blocked. 2) The butterfly keyboard worked out more clearly at 13, then the buttons move more and more effort is required to press, the keyboard seems to be cotton. 3) The weight has become more, it has become less comfortable to carry a laptop with one hand to the kitchen, but I think it will not be noticeable on a table or in a backpack. 4) After unpacking the laptop, when I removed the protective paper from the screen, its pieces remained glued to the display rubber, I had to carefully remove them from there with a wet cotton swab.
