I had a large lamp on a high headboard in my bedroom that I wanted to replace; I was always afraid of this lamp falling off the headboard and hitting me at night (it's metal and a good weight, yes) and it would be nice if the new light was adjustable. This light was amazing! I have a narrow flat space between the header bar and the top surface; it fits *just right* in this space so any books I'm holding upstairs don't spill the light. I did not use the adhesive strips or magnetic strips that came with the kit. Instead, I've used two command strips that stick out just enough to grab if I decide to move them, giving me a damage-free hanging method. I then used the small command hook as a line guide. The dimmer switch is in a good place in terms of cords (three total) as I can easily reach it in bed (I have a fairly high headboard). The lighting itself is great. With its position and position in my 10x12 foot room (in the corner) it can give off enough light to subtly illuminate the whole room. On the lowest level I have enough light to read at night or when I get up in the middle of the night to go to the bathroom. The dimming function was great allowing me to select just the right amount of light I needed. I have attached two photos, the first is my old lamp and the second is this lighting kit. (I think it's on the lowest setting? I took this photo two weeks ago and just got around to leaving a review so I forgot what setting it shows. My apologies!) I don't know, why my computer keeps fiddling with rotating photos however. definitely. After my mom saw this light she decided to buy a few and use them for under cabinet lights in the kitchen and a few other places around the house. It's definitely versatile and I only wish I had discovered it sooner!
