For law enforcement use

I love this item the most. I would like to warn you before buying to make sure this model suits your needs. The only reason I can't give it 5 stars is that there are a few things I'm not happy with that I would have liked to have explained or photographed before purchasing. Let's break it down. I use this first in law enforcement. It sits in my passenger seat and contains documents, search warrants, change, tissues, a travel-size hair removal roller, and the like. I modified mine a bit by gluing a neodymium magnet right where the half circle was cut from the rubber mat. I have a small cup of staples that I attached an extra magnet to the bottom of and they now sit in place fairly securely. If I put the notepad on part of the table and knock the mug over, hopefully the files sticking out of the top of the table will save it, otherwise I'll know I have to clean up a bit. And it's very important to make sure they're all washed, because you know what's perfect for picking the lock on a pair of handcuffs. I'm happy with my modification, but this part of the table could easily include some sort of recess or bin. Part for files at the top of the table. The biggest problem I have is that the hole doesn't have a closed bottom. They snap onto the piece of plastic that sticks out. This gives you room to hang binders, but in the closet, everything down there competes with hanging file space. This results in folders sticking out too far, pressing against the back wall, or not opening wide enough when you want to stuff something in because they're compressed. If you don't hang suspension files there, just try to stick documents there, they'll slip right out of the closet hole and end up on your lap. I want to have a rectangular box that fits completely on the floor. This is probably my biggest complaint about this model. Small nicks along the back edge. Fur. I haven't found much use for them. They are deep and have a slightly odd shape. Exactly as you see in the picture. If you put pins in there, they disappear so deep that you have to dig one of them out with your finger. The part of the file that is along the back is great. I don't really have a problem with this part. It holds dangling folders well, and if you don't want to use dangling folders, you don't need it. You can stick documents straight up and they stand about 3.5 to 4 inches higher. Depending on your vehicle, you may NOT need to wear it with a seat belt. I drive a 2009 Dodge Charger and there is a gap of about 4 inches between the front of the table and the dash. Just enough to sometimes tape a metal notebook (leaning against the duty bag in my hall). I can't get to the emergency bag that easily, but it's not completely cut off either. I also have an Uncle Mike's seat organizer that hangs on the passenger seat. I'm still working on a better fit. When you hang it on the seat headrest as intended, it closes the rear vessels, so I zipped it to the rod on the prisoner's bulkhead. This keeps him upright but doesn't provide the back support needed to keep a flat back. It starts off the tacos a little. I'll take care of it. Nice cozy corner. Sometimes it becomes a hole for garbage. Whatever you put in there that doesn't touch the floor is likely to slide right into your lap when you roll over. this problem. I like that the wooden part is durable. I can attach a holster to the bottom of the closet in case I need to grab a gun quickly and I'm off duty or just easier to reach. The rubber coating on the table is quite stubborn. Whatever's on it won't slip, but whatever's on it will most likely end up in your lap or on your console...sometimes accidentally activating lights, radio, sound system or other police gear depending on your console's settings. .Besides, I can't think of anything else. The table works great, sometimes it helps a lot but other times I want it to stick out more or slide out. Which brings me to my first question: make sure it suits your needs better than other models. I need a computer mount and printer in my car now. Looks like I'll have to find a way to mod one or the other... and they don't come cheap.
