For years I have used boxed hair dye, mostly Schwarzkopf Cocoa Red. I decided to look for something healthier for my hair and ordered Satin (4m). He suggests using a mixing bowl, but I used a mixing bottle (Sally's) which worked fine. The 4m color is a little darker than cocoa red but it is a very rich color and my hair is much softer than after using the standard color. Another benefit is that you can mix and match what you need instead of paying for a whole box and throwing away 1/3 of the bottle. Not sure yet how long the color will last before fading, but cardstock color always fades quickly for me, so it couldn't get any worse. I noticed that many people who left reviews said that they mix colors, which I end up doing to match my color.
