Review on πŸ“‘ TP-Link N750 TL-WDR4300 - High-Speed Dual Band Wireless Wi-Fi Router for Seamless Internet Connectivity by Ken Ayo

Revainrating 2 out of 5

Good router for the money but there are some issues.

The router was installed in the basement with my cable modem. I've been using it since I received it in Feb/March 2015. In the last month it seems to be falling out. This wreaked havoc on my cable modem without realizing it, with indications that the modem was having problems and was losing cable input. After checking everything, I rebooted the router and the problem with the modem was resolved. The second problem is that the 2.4GHz frequency has been mysteriously disappearing recently. At first I thought the problem was with the cable modem, but it turned out that the wired part was working fine. (Have a 2.4Ghz router in the back plugged into one of the ports that works fine and is connected to the internet). I then checked my phone and found that the 2.4GHz band was not detected, but the 5GHz band was. I connected and was able to connect to it. I used my phone app to reset my router and 2.4Ghz was available again. This is a big deal as the BW distribution on interfaces is my main router as I do all network configurations in the web interface (which is a bit user friendly and has a great description in the help window for those learning about networks) versus my other can router. Most of my devices are 2.4Ghz devices that connect to this but need to connect via cable where I can and/or connect to another wireless router. Then I also noticed that the signal drops quite often, depending on where I am. (Interference. Maybe not sure. I never really cared, unless it showed I had signal but had no connection.) Before you ask. It is updated with the latest F/W, different frequencies, channels, etc. I know I've updated it since I got it at least once, so I'm thinking about downloading an older F/W and downgrading it to see if that fixes the problem. If not, then I could go broke and find another router and actually pay more for a more reputable router (which might not matter much).

Pros
  • Parental controls to control access to the Internet on children's or employees' computers
Cons
  • It's hard to remember, but it was
