Great sturdy case, just what you would expect from an OtterBox. For the trip we put on a children's tablet. The base/stand works reasonably well on an airplane, the screen angle may be a little less than optimal for our little ones when seated but not enough to be a problem and kids 2 and 3 years older than us will have a good viewing angle. Both the tablet sleeve itself and the separate base/stand/cover piece have rubber feet so it feels secure and non-slip no matter how you put it down. The base serves as a lid, which is very convenient. We felt much safer putting the tablet in a full backpack or diaper bag, knowing that the screen was protected by both the built-in plastic screen protector and the hard plastic case. You can snap it on top of the screen or on the back and it snaps in nicely. The port cutouts are good, no problems plugging in chargers or headphones. I don't quite understand why black is $9 and gray is $65. If it didn't come for $9 and you really want to protect your tablet, I'd say it wouldn't be crazy to spend $65 on this case. For 9β¬ that's no problem, just buy it. It's easy to put on and take off if you just want to have it on hand for specific situations like travel, camping, etc.
