Wanted to wait to write my review until I tried setting it on fire to make Char Cloth. They survived the first bombardment well. I can't speak later, but there doesn't seem to be a problem and I plan on burning more cloth in it. I tried to burn the fabric in two ways: 1) by making a small (very small) hole at the top with the tip of a steak knife, and 2) without a hole at the top by trying to relying on the loops to get enough air into the charcoal. It's definitely better with a hole at the top. They barely charred within 20 minutes without a punched hole in the top. Also, I've tried them with holes and then two other ways: 1) with ONLY 6-8 pieces of 100% cotton t-shirt (cut to fit the inside diameter of the jar) and 2) filling the jar with pieces of chopped cotton . With 6-8 pieces in the jar, they charred beautifully on a gas grill with the lid CLOSED in about 15 minutes. Using the same technique but with a lot of bits inside, they didn't char at all, even after 30. Both of these jars may have small holes that I pierced at the top. The second was just too full. The fabric is slightly brown but not charred. I take 8 and try 1 more at a time to char the perfect amount in 20 minutes. They're about the size of a can of Altoids. I like the fact that they are simple with no layer of ink to mark with. You balance the bills for me. They will also work well as small pockets in my purse.
