Crane puller worked great. After seeing all the issues everyone seems to be having with the shower cartridge on YouTube, I was a bit apprehensive about addressing this issue. The cartridge I replaced has never been changed in 21 years. It seems cartridge failures were common and drilling or simple removal was the norm. I spray control with PB Blaster the night before and morning before changing. I followed the instructions, slowly tightening the nut and the cartridge came out exactly as it should have been. I can highly recommend this remedy. If you only use it once, you'll save yourself a trip to the plumber and a lot of money.
