There is an old Pioneer Elite DV-47Ai universal DVD player that I used to play CDs. Many of the player's audio settings sometimes need to be adjusted via the TV screen together with the Pioneer remote control. I just needed to see these player menu settings on my computer's LCD monitor, which has an unused VGA port. With this converter I can see the menu items of the Pioneer player without any problems. I'm using the S-Video outputs of a Pioneer player and I'm converting to VGA with that unit. For my limited and occasional needs, this converter works. If you're using it to convert some of the low-resolution video output from older video games to VGA, you'll probably be fine, as the video quality on those older game consoles isn't very good initially. However, I don't want to watch DVD with this converter because the video quality doesn't meet DVD video standards. You need to spend much more to convert high quality video to VGA to watch DVD with clarity. Last note. The included power adapter is junk. No wonder considering the low cost of this converter. It has no company name, no UL safety label etc. It is as versatile as it gets. It's also lightweight, and I seriously doubt it can deliver the 5V at 2A that the label says. Those cheap Chinese adapters are not safe. They can melt, short out, etc. and start a fire in your home. Ditch the included adapter and spend $15 on a quality power supply that's much better constructed, safer, and voltage regulated. Ditch the included cheap $2 power adapter.
