Review on Wood Trick Mechanical Windmill Constructor by Isaac Shankar

I have posted reviews of other 3D wooden puzzles on Revain and have become a huge fan of them. This is the first thing I did with Wood Trick. I am not receiving any compensation for this review. All plywood is basically the thickest that other companies use for just some of their parts, so it's very strong. Nothing wobbles when the finished wind turbine is up and running. Loose parts can be a problem with arthritis. Some hand strength is required. Using small items like tree clippings was helpful in extracting detail. Some of them had to be freed by cutting out. Puzzles from other companies can have a lot of easily breakable pieces, but that's not such a big problem here. Don't let comments about toothpicks bother you. The use of nested plywood and toothpick connectors makes the gear assemblies incredibly strong. A little sanding or a lot of wax will make it easier to insert the connector. I keep white candles from birthday cakes for extra wax. To get pesky toothpicks through the holes without breaking, adding more wax and clipping the end helped, as did using a flat piece of wood to push it through. Solving problems assembling these puzzles is one of their attractions. They certainly help my cognitive abilities. The most common problem? My mistakes in assembling or installing the part. And I think sometimes the pictures aren't clear enough. But maybe I am too. This is an amazing machine powered by 4 rubber bands and thread. Friends are excited! Biggest surprise: You build a ratchet out of tiny pieces of wood, which only has to be turned in one direction and actually works. All in all have fun with Wood Trick.
