This is a large jug that, despite its fragile appearance, can handle hot liquids. I poured in very hot water to make tea and everything was fine. I have broken a jar in the past so this jar is just what I needed. It doesn't look like it will hold 64 ounces, but it definitely does. In addition, it is not too high, so it fits perfectly on the shelves in the fridge. If you use it for ice tea, you can brew tea and keep it in the same pot. The original shipment had the wrong pitcher (different style). I contacted the seller and they immediately sent me the correct jug, in addition to asking to keep the one originally sent. Well, that's good customer service.
