I really wanted to like this bike.

I really wanted to like this bike. When the box first came out I was a bit concerned about the shipping weight of 30lbs, this bike is built for kids from 30lbs to 55lbs. When in doubt I opened it up and found a broken front brake lever (no end of the world kids don't need a front brake), the frame was well built and the paintwork was good. As I continued to build the bike, I noticed that the stem was too tight from the factory and the bearings weren't moving smoothly. This is a major problem, the notched steering is a safety issue and makes the motorcycle difficult to ride/control. As a repairman, I kept building with plans to fix the neck later (why would I fix a brand new $100 bike?), ignoring a few factory flaws and keeping building until I hit the last nerve. I cranked the front wheel and these bearings were over tightened, serrated and the wheel was misaligned. I tried the rear wheel and the foot brake clicked like towers and the spokes and tire aren't true either. Feeling defeated, I cut my losses and sent it back. I spent another $80 on the Haro Shredder. I should have just started with a well known quality brand. I don't claim to be a bike mechanic, but I work with motorcycles and I'd say this bike is 'good enough' in the $50 range. He just didn't suit me.

Pros
  • Everything is fine!
Cons
  • vulgarity
