I was looking for a pair of riding goggles that could offer eye protection and some glare protection. I'm switching from dark polarized glasses to lighter shades and clear lenses. This separates the difference pretty well and gives you both. They don't darken. They just don't. They're not bad - I have Transition prescription lenses for my glasses and they work pretty much the same. Comparing the two colors, these Rock Bros have a little less tint in the dark, but not that bad. They are almost 100% transparent when not exposed to UV light. In order to remain dark, they must be exposed to UV light. If they're under a visor or don't get much UV exposure at all, this can cause them to become transparent. So far I'm happy with them. I've done about a dozen rides with them and they work. They are made of plastic and therefore scratch easily. But I'm glad to have them to keep things out of sight and help out with the sun a bit. ***** Update ****** 9/8/21 I have a second pair. The frame of the first pair broke when touched down in the temple area. derp I bought the same goggles and can report their performance as good as the original. Here, too, it is not completely dark/black, but tinted and glare-free. I wear these most rides and find them ok. Less than $25 is enough.
