I ordered a bracelet with African turquoise. (It's actually a type of jasper, and it's an evolution stone. FYI.) These are beautiful and colorful stones, like most jaspers, in my opinion. The beads for this bracelet are smooth but not very polished. (They seem pretty real to me, but I don't have a degree in geology. I just like rocks and stuff.)... *shrugs*) Anyway... The elastic cord in the bracelet, that I received is made up of 2 THICK strands, not the dozens of thin strands I've seen in most of these bracelets. I love it. The thin ones feel weaker and THIS is stretchy, but it doesn't look like it will roll off my wrist if I swing my arm a little too much while playing. ;) But seriously, he feels safe because of his elasticity.
