The curtains are not black out and allows light to pass through the fabric. I have had blackout curtains from JCPenny and Bed Bath & Beyond in the past where no matter what time of day you close the curtains, the room would turn pitch black and you could not see. These curtains don’t do that. These curtains would be better advertised as "light dimming” or "room darkening” than "blackout”. For me, they do the job because I can still sleep without light disturbing me. I still wouldn’t be able to do my daily routine activities with the curtains closed because it’s too shadowy in the home, but it’s not a black out. The curtain comes with a few wrinkles from being folded in the packaging but with a little steaming it is wrinkle free overall. I like it and I am keeping it, but if you need pitch black curtains this is not for you. The photo attached was taken at 10:30AM
