Review on X570 Phantom Gaming ITX TB3 Thunderbolt by Adithep Saengdern ᠌

Revainrating 2 out of 5

A little disappointed, a bad purchase.

I struggled for an hour to install the Noctua NH-L9X65 cooler (from the list of compatible ones) - as soon as one of the two clamping screws is baited, the second categorically cannot. On the Nth attempt, it turned out to be set at 90 ° from the originally planned one, so that it blows not on the south bridge and vrms, but on the memory and the panel with connectors, while the heat pipe of the cooler rests on the south bridge heatsink. When the power saving mode is set in the supplied ASRock Phantom Tuning utility, half of the USB devices (Logitech 910 webcam, and usb sound card) connected either to the board itself or to a powered USB stop working.

Pros
  • One advantage: the only MiniITX board on the market with a TB3 port.
Cons
  • It's hellishly noisy, the southbridge even in idle heats up ~ 60 °, and the fan on it drowns out the vidyuhi and percent. The external eGPU Gibabyte AURUS Gaming Box 1070 could not be launched with it - but for this alone I needed a TB3 port! M.2 connector - on the bottom side, i. E. An SSD with a heatsink will not fit. And without a heatsink, the Gen4 SSD overheats and goes into throttling, in which all the advantages of Gen4 are lost and the disadvantages remain in the form of an overpriced price. When contacting ASRock international technical support (because there is no local 2022 one), having learned that from 2022 they immediately send it to the dealer. And the dealer (OLDI) sends it to the manufacturer. Those. you will not receive any support for ASRock products.
