I received these as bookshelf speakers and was happy with the advertised performance. Bluetooth pairing was easy with no drama. The speakers come with a set of cables, which you may or may not need, which is always nice. I first placed them about 8 feet apart on opposite ends of the bookshelves and had major phasing issues. Everything sounded loud but weak, especially the vocals and everything in the mids. Moving it closer improved the sound quality, and placing it on opposite ends of the same shelf, maybe 3 feet apart, seemed optimal. Keep this in mind when looking at speakers, particularly near-field monitors, which seem to be far more prone to placement issues. I spent some time listening to the vinyl mix via the line in jacks on the back of the preamp) and then using a Bluetooth connection for some Spotify. I ended up with just a hair's breadth of highs and a little more bass, I really liked the overall sound. It doesn't fill any space, and a few favorite parts of favorite songs that I could easily pick out on the big speakers got lost in the mix on them, but that's just my sophistry. These are great speakers, especially for the price. Finally, they are a great upgrade to your regular Bluetooth box. Any audiophile who primarily listens through their phone or laptop speakers will love the difference when hearing audio through dedicated drivers.
