I don't have a lot of neck and shoulder pain. I bought this to help realign my neck vertebrae.I sleep with my head propped up, so my head is tilted forward all night long. A lot more than just on a pillow or two. As a result, when I lie flat on my back on the floor, it takes me15-20 seconds before I can touch the back of my head to the floor. I think that is a bad thing.I bought this to help make my neck more flexible. It seems to be working a bit. When I first lay my neck on it, contact is in just a small area. After a few minutes my neck starts to conform to the shape and contact is increased.I should be doing more neck mobility exercises, but this is a helpful addition to those.We also bought one for our daughter who suffers from migraines. No report back from her, yet.
