Flickering monitor.

I bought a 2016 Macbook Pro and recently a Samsung Odyssey G5 and I was never able to get the refresh rate to 165 when using the HDMI port. After purchasing this cable I was able to get the refresh rate I want, but from time to time the monitor flickers and goes off and then turns on again. I plugged the cable directly into the USB-C port on my Macbook Pro. The cable doesn't fit?
