Ideal for lemon or orange peel. I usually use my standard grater, but it makes the raisins smaller. However, this is a very long tool. Something was unknown to me. It takes some time to get used to. Just make sure it's at the right angle and positioned correctly for a smaller bowl, or use a large enough bowl. I could easily do that by being a few inches shorter. It's flavorful and can also be used for things like nutmeg or macadamia nuts, walnuts, etc. if you need nut powder to sprinkle on a dish or dessert. The protective cover is good. keeps the tool sharp, dust-free and easy to use. A small brush is especially handy for nuts. Appears long. Can easily be hand washed but be careful as it is still a sharp tool. But you can also wash it in the dishwasher. I don't plan to use this on cheese as I've found results with my existing grater to get the best results.
