The toaster toasts very well and consistently. It's even nice to toast bread that has been toasted the same way on both sides. The single fragment option actually works very well. I have previously tried Black and Deck as well as the highly acclaimed Elite Gourmet and both were terrible. The two downsides to this Cuisinart CPT-740 are that the power cord is attached to the front corner of the toaster where it gets in the way, and depending on where you place the unit you may need to rotate the front of the toaster. Exit. The second downside is that the toast stand doesn't drop deep enough into the toaster (although there seems to be enough room for it) to toast anything over 3.5 inches. Sarah Lee Square Sandwich Bread is perfect. Sarah Lee Classic with round tip, do not toast tip 1 inch. It's a shame because the toasting capabilities of this device are very good.
