Replaced worn gas struts on my old Raider RV body with an 88 Ford Ranger. The old luggage racks had a 9" to 12" range and an unknown load capacity, but probably 15 pounds, and no longer held the tailgate open. I chose these 9" to 14" racks from Swiss because the old 12" racks only opened the hatch at eye level and posed a frequent headbutt hazard when fully open. The new racks are designed to be significantly heavier, in both piston rod diameter and cartridge diameter. and with a rated load of 24lbs they open quickly and keep the hatch higher so the skull doesn't break anymore. Closing requires a little more force but is not a problem. Very satisfied.
