This heart rate sensor strap was released in May 2013. This allows you to update your old Garmin Premium heart rate monitor (soft band) to the latest version. This new band has three electrical skin contact points instead of two and is clearly marked to distinguish left from right. You should buy this product (without transmitter) if you want to fix your broken Garmin heart rate monitor. If you need a full Garmin heart rate monitor, we recommend purchasing a new padded transmitter strap. The old Garmin strap has a design flaw that causes it to stop working after 2-6 months and the new one unfortunately doesn't work. better. Mine stopped working after a few months of very infrequent use. If you don't want to treat that $30 strap as a disposable item, here are two solutions. An inexpensive solution is to use an electrode gel like this one. 2). Apply the gel to the electrical contact points on the skin in the strap, and then attach the strap to your chest. The gel is inexpensive - a tube lasts a year - and in my experience it makes the heart rate measurement more stable. Unfortunately, it only lasts 45 minutes or so. If you run longer or harder, electrode gel will not solve your problem. The high tech solution is to use one of the latest optical heart rate monitors like the $80 Scosche RHYTHM+ or the $100M Link. After trying the gel for several months, I switched completely to RHYTHM+. Accuracy is good, it's more comfortable than a chest strap, and I can walk as much as I want without encountering any issues.
