Didn't work properly with Mac

Like many reviewers, I experienced video and audio flickering when trying to use this product. This is the first of two such cables that I have purchased and they all appear to have "female" (I hate that we have the gendered language of cables but I don't know what else to call it) receptors which are also what they are, which requires an additional cable with pin inputs to bridge the gap. "male" connectors stick out. I tried using this cable with the thick, high quality cable that connects the VCR to the TV (ie VCR > high quality cable > this product > laptop), and the included connection cable is not that high quality. The video pauses about every 2 seconds, resulting in a flickering effect that you either see or don't see. Also the image quality during the display is not very good. This can't be helpful in any way - nobody wants to watch old home videos in the blink of an eye. I sent it back because what else should I do? Disappointed, but also found that Walmart has a relatively inexpensive VHS digitizing service in their photo department, so I'll try that instead.
