At first I was concerned about the metal finger rests, shucking oysters can be a wet, slimy job and I was afraid my fingers would slip off the metal but no, that they're quite long and set in the right place, so I didn't have any questions. The knife is robust and perfect for working with our bay oysters. I wear a glove on my left hand in case I slip, but opening these salty treasures was a breeze with this knife. It is also sharp enough to penetrate and sever the muscle. I was impressed and while living at NOLA I shelled enough oysters to know a good paring knife, this is a very good knife.
