First of all, these would be great toppers. There are a variety of characters and several different Marios and Luigi in different positions. Some characters who can't stand on their own have stands stuck in their legs or butt, as is the case with Bullet Bill. Several parts were broken in the packaging. A Luigi's nose fell off, haha, and Mario lost his head. Each is individually wrapped so the details were obvious and fairly easy to re-stick with super glue. It's okay, although Luigi's face will never look right. Speaking of faces, none of the faces are quite right, but overall they're definitely close enough and pretty cute. I bought these for my 3 year old to play with and they won't last long at his level of play. I won't pay $18 more for this set, but it has characters that other sets don't have. The shy guy is solid and sweet. Lakitu is great, Bullet Bill, Bobomb and others.
