I have had 2 neck surgeries in the last 12 years - I broke my arm and leg both of which required surgery. So it was extremely difficult for me to get comfortable - when I fall asleep I always assume a position that hurts. I found this pillow after hip surgery and I really liked it. I use mine to provide support and keep my body balanced so I don't wake up in pain. I rested my head on the section between the long sleeves of the pillow. Each long arm goes under my shoulders to support my neck and shoulders. Long arms lay at my sides and supported my arms. I slept very well without waking up with such numbness and pain in my nerves.
