Sheath is not leather first. This is the same thick patterned vinyl that the Chinese commonly refer to as "leather." No animals were harmed in the making of this unattractive, cheap looking but functional sheath. The picture on the product page looks better than the one I received. I also have dents and scrapes on the handles. Totally cosmetic, they are actually pleasant to the touch. The blades themselves seem good enough, very solid construction. As shown in the product images, the bottom blade has a bevel between the straight and curved sections - this part of the blade does not cut. Therefore you need to constrain your cut to both sides of this bevel. This essentially gives you two different types of scissors in one - a curved blade and a straight blade with a serrated edge. Depending on what you're cutting, it sure can be useful to have the option. Overall they seem to work well and feel like they should last a while.
