I bought this container for my hair salon. I wanted to be able to just throw in foil, hair, strips of wax, etc. without touching the lid. I was so excited when it arrived, but my excitement quickly turned to disappointment as soon as I plugged it in (AC adapter sold separately). At first it didn't even open or close (I never opened or closed it). A few seconds after I waved my hand over the sensor, it began to SHINE. Yes, you read it right. Smoke came out from under the sensor. It was also starting to smell like burnt plastic, so I quickly unplugged it, afraid it would catch fire. I have a simple human touchless trash can and I have to say it's worth every penny. I immediately returned this urn and ordered a simple human stamp. This is what I get when I try to save $50! More than anything I'd worry about it catching fire, especially if you're not home. General fire hazard. Hard pass for me! The video of the garbage can is posted below.
