This strap is likely to do for many modest uses, but be careful. The purchaser of a product that may be used in a hazardous environment should rely on the seller's description and product labeling, as well as personal experience, to determine suitability for a particular application. There is a problem with the description of this strap. The LIST says "Rated for a maximum pull of 10,000 lbs" as well as "Straps are made of durable polyester" and "great for lifting or climbing". The "rating" statement doesn't tell you anything - is it the tensile strength? safe workload (SWL)? for securing a load, or for towing, or for lifting, or to protect human life? My guess is that this webbing might have the new 10,000lb breaking strength which may or may not match the stitching and hook. Note that the SWL for Build 10000# can be 3300#, 2000#, 1000# or 660# depending on the application. Polyester is a good choice for the tether or tow strap I've been looking for because it's more resistant to sunlight, heat, chemicals, and stretching than nylon. This would be a poor choice for a dynamic load like a ripcord, where the lack of stretch could tear the system or injure participants. It gets more annoying. The STRAP itself is marked "SNATCH STRAP" suggesting that it should be made of nylon rather than polyester, and even nylon can be made with too little stretch for a safe tear. Consumers have no other way of determining a product's suitability than through careful dynamic experimentation. It also says "5000 kg. The minimum recommended tensile strength is 2 to 3 times the gross vehicle weight rating." Therefore, vehicles between 4,000 and 6,000 pounds are possible with a seller safety factor of 2:1 or 3:1. Sewn loops have neat and well-sewn 8 x 12 stitches, but thread count and stitches per inch are unknown.
