First of all, if you think these are reliable motorcycle protective gloves, think again. Of course, especially for the price, they don't offer riding protection like other and much more expensive gloves that offer when you fall at high speed. I wouldn't trust ankle guards or sliders for real protection in a fall. Having said that I ordered the XL and they fit exactly like the more expensive gloves I bought so I'll say they are true to size if that's a problem. I recently swapped out my GPS navigator that I use on my bike and found that the gloves I usually wear don't work with the touchscreen. A little frustrating when traveling and something to check, and taking your glove off on the freeway can be a little uncomfortable, if not unsafe. Went shopping, saw these on the list and decided to take a chance. My first impression was the initial smell. No, not wet goat, but I swear they should have been soaked in diesel fuel or something. I left them in the garage for a few days to air out. It worked most of the time but decided to take a ride and try them out. There was still a slight odor on my hands but of course it got a lot better so I took them off and left them in the garage to air out. I tried again a few days later and said they also started to take on the curvature of my arm and "most" of the bad smell was gone. Not sure if they've been treated with anything, certainly not diesel fuel, but close as even a wet goat doesn't smell like it when you first open it. All in all, a worthwhile purchase and the price is right. If you want real protection while driving in the event of an accident, look further and dig deeper to find cash. I can also control my Garmin GPS with my index fingers, which is exactly what I wanted. Can't comment on durability as I haven't had it for a while, but all stitches look good with no "wobbly" stitches or extra thread ends.
