Excellent speed, seems solid on Windows drivers

I was very nervous about this card. The reviews are worrying. I installed it with some apprehension and tried to use the TP-Link Archer drivers from the TP-Link website but they didn't install. You did not find a compatible card installed. I didn't have an optical drive handy to install the disc that came with the card and was afraid to do so anyway due to the instability reported by other users. So I stuck with the Windows drivers, which I tried to update via Device Manager, but Windows already had the latest version it was aware of. When I put my computer to sleep for the first time and resumed, the Wi-Fi connection was lost. I thought so. But then I put the computer to sleep and resumed several times with no problems. And with a speed test, my Wi-Fi speed almost doubled from my previous speeds with the fairly new Wi-Fi built into my MSI motherboard. The image I've attached is from a speed test on this card connected to my Linksys WRT1900ACS which was fairly close to the computer. After working with Windows drivers for a few days, I can say that they seem to be quite reliable. I didn't see quite the speed I was hoping for, but I did see a definite improvement over the previous Wi-Fi. Can I possibly increase speed with better drivers? Of course. Probably. But based on other reviews it seems just as likely that I could cause a major problem with my system, so I'll settle for a good enough one.

Pros

Cons
  • There are other interesting options.
