The base coat allows subsequent coats to really adhere well and this particular one is exceptionally good. I also love the glossy top coat and surprise! You don't need to wipe any sticky residue off of your nails after curing. It's very shiny, which I love. I am not as crazy about the matte polish, although I know it is all the rage now. It's thicker than the glossy top coat and hard to get on smoothly, although I suspect I would get better at it with more practice. I would love it if they offered a kit with just the base and the glossy top coat.
