I left the siphon in my shower drain for over a month. I just pulled the trap out of the drain. I heard a squeaking noise and the chain didn't catch anything as I pulled it out of the drain. I see dirty hair and other things at the bottom of the gutter, but nothing was taken out with the trap. How did it happen? I wasn't expecting a big bun, but I was expecting SOME hair to run down the trap. So it happened that the trap just sank to the bottom of the drain with all the mud. Not a single hair stuck to the trap below and nothing stuck to the trap where it was dry in the open air. Eventually I have to use a plunger/drain to flush all the dirt down the drain. I would not recommend this product.
