This is my fourth Megaboom in 4 years. I only had one, had issues with it not charging after a while and when I contacted UE they replaced it for me. My other 3 were gray and blue and I got this one because I needed one in my garage and it matched my Dewalt tools! So far, so good. sounds just as good as my others and is just as durable. I chose the first generation because to be honest I haven't heard anything good about the second generation other than that it's easier to get to the charging station. Otherwise, I personally like the first generation better. For those who want to travel with them I can tell you they are the best. That was the specific reason I bought my first two, were for travel and they are small enough to fit in my Tumi water bottle holders and I've had them everywhere from the beach to pools etc. Never no problem and those Sound quality is so good. I would highly recommend this speaker if you are looking for something waterproof and durable. And I wouldn't be left out by the negative reviews about it not charging after a year of use. As I said, this has only happened to me on one and they replaced it with no problem. It's worth it.
