Review on πŸ›‘οΈ HB 10 Emergency Thermal Blanket by Primacare by Jay Maryland

These things saved my cat!

I have to admit I didn't buy these for myself. My husband and I have been taking care of our neighbor's abandoned cat for almost a year. We used to keep him in our apartment (despite the no pets clause in our rent) but when he got fleas we decided it was time to stop bringing him. It's getting cold now so I built him a shelter out of a plastic container, insulation foam cut to fit each side of the container (including the top and bottom), some straw and one of our blankets which he loves. I was concerned that regular insulation foam might not protect against the cold Philly winter, so I ordered these blankets and wrapped one around each piece of foam to keep the entire container insulated. We had a cold attack a few weeks ago and the cat was hanging out at the shelter. While he was there, I reached in to fill his bowl with food, and even though it was only 30 degrees outside, I swear it was at least 70 degrees inside the shelter - the Mylar blanket kept so much of the guy back so little Body heat which was perfectly comfortable even with the hole we cut in the box to allow it to come and go. I no longer worry about him freezing to death. If they work for it, I'm sure they'll be good in an emergency.

Pros
  • Mylar liner provides thermal insulation and the foil cover can reflect heat back to the body or radiate heat from the sun
Cons
  • Expensive
